Morning Special (2019. Sep. 22. Sun.)

PART 2 (2) >>

▶Lingoling 1

남: [interested] How’s your resort project going?

여: Meh. I need more investors.

남: Yeah. You need to do a lot of schmoozing.

여: [annoyed] I know, and I hate to schmooze!

It’s such a waste of time.

남: [laughing] Not if you do it well.

If you schmooze well, a lot of things can go your way!

여: Yeah, you’re right. Well, I better call a schmoozefest with some deep-pocket investors. You wanna come?

남: I don’t have deep pockets and I’ve never invested in anything.

여: I need better friends.

**schmooze

-v. to talk in a friendly or insincere way with someone, especially in a way that is not sincere or to win some advantage for yourself (to gain favor, business or connections)

-n. schmoozer

여: What did you do last weekend? I tried calling you.

남: [secretive] Uh... I was... uh... busy...

여: [getting upset] Busy? Doing what?

남: You know... stuff...

여: If we’re going to be dating, I need a lot more information than that.

남: [sighs] Fine. Sheesh. I was binge-watching something.

여: [relieved] Oh! What did you binge-watch?

남: [mumbles inaudibly] “Friends.”

여: [loud] I can’t hear you!

남: “Friends,” okay?? “Friends.” I binge-watched “Friends”!

**binge-watch

- v. to watch many or all episodes of (a TV series) in rapid succession

Survival How-tos 1

The Korean National Police Agency reported an average of 18 cases of spy cam activity per day in 2015. More than 16,000 people were arrested between 2012 and 2017 for being involved in such activities. While the legal punishments carry a possible fine of up to 10 million to 30 million won ($9,000) and a maximum 5-year sentence, in 2017 only 2% of the 5,400 people arrested faced any jail time.

Survival How-tos 2

Locating a source of water quickly is essential to survival in the wilderness. No matter the outside temperature, the human body is constantly losing water. Dehydration impacts mental and physical health, and it takes only a few days without water for the situation to become critical. Yet, water found in the wild can be dangerously contaminated, so it's important to purify it before you drink it.
